With each advancing year of K-Pop, we get new groups, new concepts, and most importantly, new music! In 2010, there were groups that debuted and music released that now, 10 years later, has reached iconic status for their innovativeness and fun, catchy tunes! 1. “Lucifer”- SHINee

“Lucifer” is the title track of SHINee‘s 2010 album of the same name. Upon its release, the song topped many Korean charts, and also started the trend of dance practice videos in K-Pop! The song also continued to feature SHINee’s signature knife-like choreography, and remains a special song even today!

2. “I’m A Loner”- CNBLUE

In 2009, CNBLUE as a group were predominantly active in Japan. When 2010 rolled around, they made their official debut with their debut mini-album Bluetory, which spawned the hit single “I’m A Loner”. The song was an instant hit in Korea, and was played everywhere! The track also gave CNBLUE their first win on a music show, and at the time, CNBLUE became the first group to achieve their first win in the short period of 15 days!

 

3. “Oh!”- Girls’ Generation

In 2009, Girls’ Generation hit big success with their song “Gee”, and further solidified their status as a top girl group with “Tell Me Your Wish”. The next song to cement their popularity was “Oh”, the title track of the group’s second full album of the same name. The song followed their popular cutesy concept, and upon its release, topped various music charts! The cute, cheerleader concept was also well-received, and fans enjoyed the fun choreography as well! “Bonamana” is a song released by Super Junior as the title track of their fourth mini-album of the same name. The song was a great success upon its release, with the album even becoming the second best selling album of 2010!

 

8. “Run Devil Run”- Girls’ Generation

After the release of “Oh!” earlier in the year, Girls’ Generation released the track “Run Devil Run” as the title track of the repackaged version of Oh!, and the concept was noted for its darker, more mature tones. Nicknamed “Black Soshi” for the era, Girls’ Generation found great success with this new concept! “Don’t Stop Can’t Stop” is a single released by 2PM in 2010, and was an instant success in Korea! The group won many awards with the track, and were further established as a top boy group in the industry!
