When K-Pop idols get involved in scandals, it can be hard for netizens to forgive them, as netizens are quite strict on idols. However, there have been some cases where idols seemingly were given a second chance after scandals. Here’s a list of a few of them.

1. G-Dragon (BIGBANG)

In 2011, G-Dragon was indicted on charges of smoking marijuana. This made headlines as marijuana is illegal in South Korea. G-Dragon made even more headlines when he did a hair drug test, and it showed signs of marijuana use.

G-Dragon would later confess that he had smoked marijuana. After this, G-Dragon went into hiatus to reflect on his actions.

I smoked a cigarette that was given to me at a club. It smelled kind of different from a normal cigarette, so I had a suspicion that it was marijuana, but it is still true that I did smoke it.

G-Dragon eventually did make his return later that year at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The scandal didn’t seem to affect G-Dragon too much, as his popularity remains extremely high after all these years.

2. Nichkhun (2PM)

He ended up apologizing for his actions and went into hiatus to reflect. Nichkhun ended up making a return less than a year later after this incident, and he was able to remain in the group.

3. Tzuyu (TWICE)

During TWICE’s earlier days, Tzuyu got involved in a scandal when she appeared on an episode of My Little Television and held up a Republic of China flag since she is from Taiwan.

Tzuyu ended up receiving a lot of backlash from people, who called her a traitor to China and a Taiwanese independence activist for this action. It got to the point where Tzuyu was practically forced to make an apology.

Thankfully, this didn’t affect TWICE or Tzuyu too much, as they went on to become one of the most successful groups in K-Pop.

4. Andy (SHINHWA)
