Upcoming period spy thriller “Coffee” released stills of leads Joo Jin Mo (“Frozen Flower”) and Kim So Yeon (“Iris”) for a first glimpse into their respective characters.  The film is set at the end of the 19th century under Emperor Gojong’s reign.  

In the film, Joo is Ilyich, a Russian spy.  Kim takes on Tanya, Joseon’s first woman barista.  As a close aide to the Emperor, she plays a key role in the royal’s assassination attempt.  Viewers anticipate how the main protagonists of the tale will tangle, as well as the intermingling of fact and fiction.

“Coffee” is based on the novel “Russian Coffee” by Kim Tak Hwan.  The film is directed by Jang Yoon Hyun, who helmed “Tell Me Something,” and the 2007 Song Hye Gyo-starrer “Hwang Jini.”
