Popular K-Drama Princess Hours has been confirmed to be receiving a remake version, 15 years after the original aired and took over Asia.

According to Jaedam Media, the management company that holds the rights to Park So Hee‘s manhwa Princess Hours, they have recently signed a remake contract for the K-Drama version with drama production company Group8. Group8 has produced popular dramas such as Boys Over FlowersHey Ghost, Let’s Fight, and the original, 2006 version of Princess Hours.

Princess Hours tells the story of a crown prince marrying an ordinary high school girl, and what happens to the royal family following the marriage. The drama launched its lead actors Yoon Eun Hye, Ju Ji Hoon, Kim Jeong Hoon, and Song Ji Hyo to stardom throughout Asia.

Jaedam Media’s CEO Hwang Nam Yong commented on why they have decided to launch the remake of Princess Hours.

It’s necessary to make new works, but I think it’s also important for IP (Intellectual Property) expansion that we continuously maintain our existing works as well.

The new version of Princess Hours will be a leading example of how this can proceed.
