Kang Tae Oh played Lee Young Hwa, an art student who changes a sports agency CEO, Seo Dan Ah (Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung)’s life. Of course, he began by discussing his romance on the show with Sooyoung and how it was to work with her.

He commented that he has often had to play characters with crushes or one-sided loves. So, he was really excited and nervous to finally act out his first reciprocated romance. However, he said that meeting Sooyoung before filming really helped with his nerves.

I met Sooyoung for the first time through Run On and it was such an honor. We’d read through the script and do analyses of our characters, and I learned a lot from her. I was particularly grateful that Sooyoung loved the character, Young Hwa, thanks to her, Young Hwa was able to come to life. She gave a better analysis about the things that I didn’t understand, so it was great when we were acting. I felt like, ‘She’s an actress who can improve the scene even more because she even thinks about her co-star’s character.’

He went on to talk about acting with Im Siwan and Shin Se Kyung. He began by mentioning that he was already quite close with the two of them, so it was easy to get along with them on set.

Im Siwan seems like an actor who never stops studying. Even when he’s acting, he’s always trying hard to create a better scene. It made me feel more ambitious and want to share my opinions. When Shin Se Kyung and I acted together, she was so considerate in terms of the environment on set and made sure I was feeling okay. The director also allowed us to improvise lines a lot.

He was then asked how similar he thinks he is to his character. To which he shared, “There are parts where we’re similar and parts where we’re different, but I think I’m friendly like Young Hwa. Something that’s different would be that I can’t approach someone first when we meet for the first time.” He thinks that Young Hwa and he are 58 percent similar.

When he was asked why he chose to act in Run On, he easily said that he loved the chemistry between the characters. He added, “I was also stirred by the relatable stories.

Of course, he had to pick a favorite scene!

My favorite scene is where, after he kisses Dan Ah, all the emotions he had buried come up and he cries. It showed Young Hwa’s innocence and charm.

Nearing the end, he discussed his goals for 2021 and how much the cast wanted a second season. He recalled, “The actors were so sad and said, ‘Let’s do season two.’ The writer joked, ‘You guys know your characters. If there’s a second season, you write your lines.’” For 2021, he simply said that he would like to have fun on his next project and not get sick.

Tae Oh ended by thanking the entire team that worked on the show.

We started in July and finished at the end of December, so I want to thank the director, staff, and cast for all their hard work from the hot days to the cold days. Since the cast spent time together before filming, we were able to film while already being close, and so I think our chemistry was great. It was an honor to be able to work on such a great and warm project.
