Rae Won will be finally making his return dramas three years after his appearance in Black Knight. He shared that it was somewhat difficult to get back into it.

I always felt some fear about fantasy works. There have been times when I’ve turned down offers. I thought this project would be the same, but the writer was Chun Sung Il [of The Package] and I really enjoyed watching Director Kim Hong Sun’s The Guest. Also with Choi Young Hwan as the cinematographer and the rest of the cast, Icouldn’t say no.

Da Hee shared that she really wanted to try different genres of work and really loved the cast. She briefly mentioned her former detective role in Mrs. Cop and said, “It’s similar because of their occupations, but there’s a mature romance in ‘L.U.C.A.: The Beginning.’ I think it might be a deeper feeling than something light.

Sung Oh shared his own interesting reason for joining the drama. “I just thought that it was something that I would really enjoy watching on television. There’s a lot of action, and the CGI makes the action even richer.

They then began to describe their characters beginning with Rae Won.

He hides his outstanding ability and is desperately searching for the cause and his birth. I worked hard and kept asking the director questions to the point that I thought he may be annoyed. However, I felt rewarded because by the end I felt what Ji Oh felt. Ji Oh was curious about who he was and worked hard to find out. I felt that confusion and difficulty as well.

Da Hee went on to describe her character and the challenge it gave her.

She’s definitely an independent woman, but I there’s also a charming, pure inner side to her. I did a bit of action in the past, but never to this extent. The director awoke those action instincts in me.

Rae Won praised Da Hee’s passion and drive with working on action scenes. “She must have occasionally gotten hurt while filming, but she didn’t let it show and worked hard.

Rae Won and Da Hee finished by speaking about the connection between their two characters.

It would’ve been great if they could have quickly met and shared their feelings, but they couldn’t speak honestly so as the actor I also felt frustrated.

—Kim Rae Won

Our romance is one where they’re so close but not quite there. Where there’s desperation but they can’t meet. That part isn’t annoying, but it’s sad to see. I talked a lot with Kim Rae Won to figure out the emotions and bring them to life. Thanks to him, I was able to act better while following his lead.
