Filipino Singer Monty Macalino Wrote A Song About BLACKPINK’s Rosé After She Helped Heal Him
Monty Macalino and his band, Mayonnaise, recently dropped a song titled after BLACKPINK‘s Rosé and the reason is so sweet. Monty is a musician from the Philippians and has just recovered from some tough health conditions.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, Monty revealed that he faced a scary situation with his health. When he went to the doctors they discovered he had a medical condition in his veins. Monty was afraid he was going to be amputated and that his musical career was over.
Luckily, Monty was out of the hospital after 10 days, however, that was not the end of his trouble.
I was really depressed that time. For some reason, after I got out of the hospital after ten days, I was out of it. I was panicking. I thought I was going to relapse.
— Monty Macalino
Despite his depression, he realized that he had to overcome it: “I said to myself, ‘I need to get organized’.” After visiting his parents and receiving the rest he needed and created the album “Family and Friends.”
One song in the album that has been gaining a lot of attention was a song titled after BLACKPINK’s Rosé, Park Chaeyoung (Rosé’s Korean name).
Monty shared that he got comfort and healing from Rosé during his hard time. He revealed he got inspiration for his lyrics by looking at Rosé photos on social media: “I found a muse in her.”
He also wanted to clarify that he was not using BLACKPINK as a marketing move. He merely wanted to show his appreciation for her: “I just want to make a song that matters to me because at the end of the day, that’s all I want to do.”
Fans of BLACKPINK and Rosé are touched to hear that the artists they love can also inspire other artists musically or personally. Fans are also glad to hear Monty has pulled himself out of his depression and improved his help.
