Shin Dong Yup, who is currently the main MC of “Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend,” confessed that he refused the role at first because of “Infinite Challenge.”

On April 17, “Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend” held a press conference to commemorate its upcoming 300th episode.

Producing director Lee Tae Heon started out by saying he didn’t feel any rivalry with the show “Infinite Challenge,” which has been airing in the same time slot as “Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend.” He revealed he was actually a longtime fan of “Infinite Challenge” so he was rather honored that his show was airing at the exact same time.

MC Shin Dong Yup, on the other hand, admitted he had thought differently in the beginning. “I initially rejected the MC role because of ‘Infinite Challenge.’ Honestly, an unlucky [time slot] can cause a show to fail no matter how good the program is. When I found out that ‘Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend’ and ‘Infinite Challenge’ were airing at the same time, I thought it would be impossible for the show [to surpass ‘Infinite Challenge’ in viewer ratings]. However, I ultimately decided to give it a shot, and I’m glad I did,” he expressed.
