During his online press conference for his latest album, he shared why it took him 10 years to make his comeback. His previous album The First was released in 2011, and after that, Sung Si Kyung mainly sang OSTs and starred in variety shows, and revealed he was just “lazy” about releasing a full album, since he disliked mini-albums!

The reason it took so long is that I was lazy, I couldn’t work up the courage, and did a lot of side-gigs (like starring in reality shows). If I felt comfortable releasing singles or mini-albums, it might not have taken this long.

But in the back of my mind, I always felt I should release an album for the fans.

He also revealed that his album was initially supposed to come out in 2020, but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing him more time to perfect the album!

The delay gave me space to put more thought into making the album and not rush through it. I wasn’t pressed for time. I had enough time to work on it until I was satisfied… I tried to fine-tune each song.

As his comeback date was set to be the same as BTS’s “Butter” release, Sung Si Kyung shared a hilarious story about how he got multiple panicked phone calls from his record distributor about it!

I even got three calls from the record distributor asking if I was serious about releasing my album that day. I told them, “Isn’t this what we decided on?”

I didn’t ask to release it on the same day as BTS, we just happened to plan our schedule that way.
