On April 9, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hosted a special movie premiere. Various celebrities and politicians participated in this special event including director Luc Besson, actress Michelle Yeoh, US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer, Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell, ex-Olympian Michelle Kwan, and so on. SM‘s Lee Soo Man proudly made it to the list of official invitees as the only Korean.

Lee Soo Man’s previous encounter with Michelle Yeoh and Hillary Clinton allowed this second rendezvous to happen. Back in November 2011, Hillary Clinton visited Korea and was headed to Myanmar to meet Aung San Suu Kyi. Michelle Yeoh wanted to give Hillary Clinton a DVD copy of her movie “the Lady,” in which she plays the role of Aung San Suu Kyi. She turned to Lee Soo Man for help, asking him to deliver the DVD to Hillary Clinton, and that is exactly what he did.

After having a successful meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi, Hillary Clinton highly valued Lee Soo Man’s act as diplomatic and this led her to invite him to the special premiere. At the event, Lee Soo Man had a chance to discuss the issue of illegal downloads and pirating with Christopher J. Dodd, the president of Motion Pictures Association of America.
