Twitter Reacts to Choi Siwon’s Stance on Gay Marriage
Siwon retweeted, and the Twitterverse has responded. On September 11, the Super Junior member shared a Twitter post proclaiming that “so-called same-sex marriage does not exist.” The post in question links to an opinion editorial written in support of Kim Davis. Kim Davis is the Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in spite of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling which legalized same-sex marriage, and subsequently defied a court order which demanded that she issue the licenses.
So what is Twitter saying about Siwon’s recent RT? Let’s just say it’s mostly not positive.
“Siwon confirms his stance against same-sex marraige” i confirm my stance against siwon

Many fans pointed out the irony of Siwon’s stance, given his history of skinship.

“Lemme touch you sensually for our fans, lol no homo though.”
“Marriage can only be between man and woman cuz God said so.” -basically Siwon— what is bias ◄◄ (@DaebakSoshi_LPL) September 11, 2015
One person wondered if Siwon has eaten any shellfish lately.

Another wished that Korea has Netflix (no hacking, please!).
If Korea had Netflix I would hack into siwon's account and watch 20 gay movies so his whole recommended is homo

And another thinks some fans need to make up their minds.
*Siwon tweets in English*
Fans: OMG oppa's English is getting better!
*Siwon retweets homophobic article*
Fans: HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND IT.— ロレン The Tactician (@sixmyths) September 10, 2015
Some people do support his beliefs, or at least his right to express them.
Just bcs Siwon says he's against same-sex marriage doesn't mean he disrespect the LGBT community. He's against the marriage, not the people.

Was never a fan of SUJU. But good on you Choi Siwon for voicing your opinions and being truthful about it!

I get that some people are upset because of Siwon, but you should accept the fact that you can't force your opinion and beliefs on others

While same-sex marriage is not legal in South Korea, public opinion has begun to change. K-pop idols who have spoken out in favor of LGBT rights include SHINee’s Jonghyun, BTS’s Rapmon, and GLAM. However, there are still many Koreans who don’t support gay marriage, and Siwon, a known conservative Christian, has situated himself as the most vocal. In a recent interview, he confirmed his position (and also took a dig at entertainers who apparently prioritize “success” over “values”).
“While I respect all genders, I do not wish to acknowledge homosexuals, as I have been taught that God created man and woman with specific characteristics and duties. I realize that with globalization, there are many [entertainers] who do not share my views. There are those who are value-oriented and those who are success-oriented. However, shouldn’t an actor deliver an image to his audience through roles he chooses to portray, based on his beliefs in life?”
Update: Siwon has deleted the retweet and apologized.
